Rikki Lee Jones Sings for Eric Massa – “Had enough of Randy Kuhl? Vote for Eric Massa!”
Canandaigua, NY – The Messenger Post Newspapers today announced their endorsement of Eric Massa for Congress in the 29th District. The editors cited Massa’s energy, creativity, and his drive to address “the deeper problems facing our country.” Messsenger-Post Newspapers publishes the Canandaigua Daily Messenger, as well as nine weekly community papers in the Monroe County area.
Massa, of Corning, is challenging freshman incumbent Representative Randy Kuhl. “On nearly every national issue, from Iraq to the government’s handling of Hurricane Katrina,” wrote the Editorial Board, “Kuhl defends the status quo… If you want someone who will make a difference in Washington, you need to look to someone else.”
The endorsement went on to specifically discuss Massa’s military credentials “as a naval officer in the Mideast, Latin America and Europe,” and his personal victory over a diagnosis of terminal cancer. It also highlighted the key contrasts between Massa and Kuhl. “On Iraq, Massa understands, as Kuhl apparently does not, that we have squandered lives, squandered our prestige and squandered our military strength on a poorly conceived war with a poorly conceived strategy,” the editors wrote.
