The Latest AP/IPSOS Poll Numbers

The poll was taken between 8/7 – 8/9.  1001 adults and 871 voters were polled.  Margin of error was +/- 3 for adults, and +/- 3.5 for voters.

1.  President Bush’s approval rating:  33%
                         disapproval rating:  57%

2.  Voters who voted for Bush in 2004, but who will vote for
        democrats this November:  19%

3.  Voters whose vote will express their opposition to the
      president:  29%;  (last month – 20%)

4.  President Bush’s approval in the south:  34%
     (last month – 43%)

5.  Is the country on the right track?  Yes – 26%
    
6.  Congressional approval:  29%

7.  Voters backing a democrat:  55%
     Voters backing a republican:  37%

“The signs now point to the most likely outcome of Democrats gaining control of the House,” said Robert Erikson, a Columbia University political science professor.

… fewer than 100 days before the Nov. 7 election, the AP-Ipsos poll suggested the midterms are clearly turning into a national referendum on Bush.

It will be interesting to watch the statistics of polls like this one as we approach the November mid-term elections.
